Ginisang Gulay sa Kamatis (Saute vegetables in tomatoes)

These are harvested from my vegetable garden last Sunday. I Half of what you can see here I gave to my Filipina friend who lives 15 minutes away from my house. Funny thing about the squash, for the longest time I thought it was a pumpkin. But at the end when it didn't change color to orange I knew right away that this is actually a squash/gourd not a pumpkin.

Here is the picture below while it's still cooking. The ingredients are squash or gourd, asparagus/long/yard beans (tagalog sitaw), okra, onions, and tomatoes. Salt and pepper to taste. The squash turn out really sweet just like sweet potatoes.

Well done on growing all of those delicious looking veggies. Mine did not come out very well this year - I think the rainy summer and having a diseased plant didn't help us.

Our sitaw and okra have also taken off and we've been having sitaw almost everyday. This is the kids' favorite way of cooking it. Me, I wish I could cook it like pinakbet but I'm the only one who likes alamang :(

Rachel-thanks for leaving a comment. I don't know which blog to use for my comment. Anyway, some of my vegetables turn out good but some are not so good like pumpkins, gourds, and corns.

Jeanny- lol yes, I have plenty of those too.

Jmom-I freeze most of my harvest including tomatoes. Only 2 of my kids eats these kind of vegetable with anything in them. The rest are plain picky including my DH. I'm planning on bigger garden next year, that means more of these. I may have a stall at the side of the street for that lol. "Sariwang gulay po kayo dyan". I'm too shy for that lol.
