Our Dinner Tonight

Image
My very first meatloaf meal since we move in our new (new to us) house. I planned on cooking this last weekend but DH had other plans and I didn't had a chance to make it then. And of course meatloaf with side of mash potatoes and gravy. I was stuff. For dessert, brownies with whipped cream or... ...with vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!

New Gadget for my Kitchen

Image
Actually this is DH idea. He said he used to have one like it when he was little and wanted to do the same for our children. He also told me that people whippet the nitrous oxide (NO2)that comes with it. I was like, "WHIPPET?" What is that? And he told me...ha ha ha So, now that is winter is almost over he got one. I can't even put some whip cream on hot cocoa anymore. Well, I can still do, but cold days are almost over and I will not be making it very often. Every dessert will be having some whip cream from now on. Whip cream anyone? :D

Big Kitchen/Dining Room

Image
Finally our big kitchen/dining room has all the wall up. I'm hoping we can finish the wood floor before DH go back to work. Did I mention he procrastinate a lot? Yup, that's my DH. After everything was away, we found out that we can easily have an island in the middle of the top pic and the bottom pic. We also notice that the bottom pic look bare on the top. So, guess what? We will add an island and a few more cabinets there. Maybe a display shelves of some sort. My pots rock will go on top of the upright freezer at the bottom picture. That freezer will be moving to the pantry of by the laundry room. Whichever got more room, I guess. DH is not confident enough to do the spackle. We will hire someone to do it. Also I decided to put a murals in the wall of the sink and stove. Since my color scheme will be wood/white/light green/red, I want a mural with red. And the backsplash will also have some red, then I will paint the wall light green. Hopefully we can finally have s...

Rice Pudding (Biko)

Image
This is Filipino delicacy. While chatting with my HS friends I got myself making this because we were talking about what to put on the table for "Media Noche" (a family gathering and eating at midnight December 31st). It's a Filipino tradition to welcome the New Year. I do not have friends, well friends that willing to drive to my house and hang out during Media Noche. So, I don't usually slave myself in the kitchen after dinner on December 31st. However, I was tempted on tasting this delicacy so, I made half a batch for myself and whoever wanted to taste it with me in my household. DH and DD tasted it. DD wasn't too crazy about it, but DH helped me ate it. They are many ways to make this and I picked the bake one. I love the brownish crusty sweet on top. For recipe you can simply google it.

Tortellini

Image
Nope, I did not made the tortellini. It will be in the list of I wanted to cook in our new kitchen. I boiled the pasta according to the package direction. Saute chopped onions and garlic in olive oil, then I add the tortellini, salt and pepper to taste. I add the baby spinach after turning off the stove. Stir until the spinach are wilted, serve with romano cheese on top. Furthermore, I just wanted to show off my new kitchen counter top. We could not afford the granite, and we asked our carpenter to just make us a counter top instead.

Ugh!

Big kitchen is still unusable. DH and carpenter is moving very slowly. I hate it.
