Sausage Links

Kapampangan Sweet Longanisa Another thing I don't know how to make. I always wanted to make it at least the skinless ones but DH instructed me not to buy too much pork since they were forbidden in the bible. Anyway, I finally made it to my local (1/2 hour away) Asian market looking for dry fish, but no luck. They don't have much groceries but they cook a lot. I can buy a cook anything and bring it home, and save the house for However, I rather cook my own food, I never liked buying cook anything.

And since my ODS loves these Philippine style sausage I bought one pack. The owner of the store are from Batangas. We have some words that are the same, and they actually knew where I came from when I told them the name of the Island. Now, I don't feel strange with them. They know my dialect and they will never tell me that I am Bisaya.

Let's get back with the sausage, I simmered them first on a little amount of water, then when the water is gone, I added a few drops of olive oil to get it golden brown. I like it a little burnt too because they become crispy outside.

Fried Noodles/Lo Mein with Shrimp

Fried Noodles/Lo Mein with Shrimp(Pansit Canton & Bihon)
This is what happens when I have left over noodles enough for one meal. Then I decide to cook for everyone and just one kind is not enough. What to do? Mix them together. I also find out that my pak choy goes well with this. Yummy! There is not much vegetable with this one because non in my family except myself, loves vegetables. And since I made this everyone I had to compromise.

I had to soak the rice noodles on the water to make it soft. I cooked the canton noodles with the broth and I just mix them all together when the canton was done. Please remember to add some olive oil before taking it out of the pan to prevent sticking together. I have to make another one tomorrow. Enjoy!

The Best

The kids and I just finished our lunch. They had macaroni & cheese and I had steamed sweet potato tops along with fried sardines. I found some wild caught sardines in my local grocery store last week and I bought some and cook them today. I also had NAKANO Seasoned Rice Vinegar as a dip for my fried sardines. It reminds me of how the farmers eat under a shade tree in the middle of rice field in the olden days back home. I only seen it through pictures and TV shows and I wished I could have experience it. That reminds me that I still need to go to my newly found Asian store to buy dry fish, and then I can have rice vinegar with chilies or hot peppers as a dip. (Have you notice that the rice vinegar is not as acidic as the regular white vinegar around? It also smells like coconut vinegar just the way my parents use to make.)

NAKANO Seasoned Rice VInegar
And the best part about it is sipping some hot broth from the fish or pork soup with hot rice and local fruits for dessert with your bare hands in an open field. And now I call it picnic in the open field of grass or in the park. The feeling is not the same however, with the same concept, which is eating outside. My husband always makes fun of me when he sees me eating with my bare hands with one leg up on the chair. I noticed him with the leg up at one time and told me, “Now I know what you are talking about”. He was eating something he loves and he did not even notice the leg until I pointed it out to him. Have you tried it? And before I forget, please make sure you stop at the above link to get your $1 coupon and try this scrumptious dressing yourself.

Broiled Beef Short Ribs

I love to barbecue in the summer, but I hate the heat. We had this a few nights ago and yes I used the oven to cook it. You would think that I should cook it outside to spare the house...nope. DH enjoyed it, especially the sauce I put on it. Regular barbecue sauce with honey, he can't have enough.

I know I said I hate the heat but I love the barbecues in the summer. I can have barbecue everyday if I can and if I can have every thing barbecued.

Baby Red Potatoes with Chives

Baby red potatoes with chiveThese are steam potatoes with butter, chive, salt and pepper. It is really good with baby red potatoes. The second best recipe I like of baby red potatoes. I have not tried using fresh chives yet, but I think when using fresh ingredients the taste and smell is much better.

One Stop Game Station

My family is hooked on PC games, and right now our favorites are Wolfenstein Enemy Territory & Quake Wars, and Command & Conquer the First Decade or Red Alert 3. Most of them play Wolfenstein but I prefer Command and Conquer. Even my youngest son who is 3 years old play with them, he is only allowed to play when Daddy is playing because other player does not like it when he does not follow what they ask him to do. He can’t read yet & type any messages and sometimes he gets ban because of it. However, when his father’s plays he can explain to the other players that he is only three and cannot understand them. Furthermore, if he wanted to play on his own we put him in the server with mostly robots.

The only thing I don’t like about it is the language in the game and when they go to next level. We don’t make a big deal about it, and we never tell them that those are bad words. When they ask what they are saying, we simply tell them nothing important. Anyway, if you love any type of games please check X-Play for your own game reviews, previews, tips, tricks and cheats. And they are actually on weeknights 6:30 & 8pm; all you have to do is check your local listing to find out channel they are on in your area. Go check it out.

Do You Know the Truth Behind It

This written without prejudice and under reserve. Let me remind you that we are a Republic not democracy, and whoever question it read our constitution. Furthermore, let me remind you that one size fits all is not really true. So, what is the truth? The government is here because we voted them to be there and we (if you know about it) can vote them out too. If you like the ObamaSurance healthcare as invisioned byObama good for you. Do you also know that when you reach the certain age you are not cover by this so called Universal Health Care that he is talking about? Yes, it stop at the age 70. Research it, I will not give you the thread about it.

My family are against anything socialize. That is the reason behind why I teach my children at home, why I don't believe in socialize medicine, why I don't believe in a large government and so on. If you believe in the constitution you know what I am talking about. The government is put there by us to protect our rights, they are not put there to take our rights and that is what they are doing now. If we all stand up against them and vote them out, we will have the government who are following our law, the supreme law, the common law of this land. They should be trial for treason of their own land. However, I find it that a lot of people are scare of our government, scare of their own shadow and wants the government to do everything for them. Not me, I like to things on my own and my own way under the constitution.

Chocolate Donuts

Chocolate Donuts3 1/4 c. flour
2 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
4 tbsp. butter, melted
1 oz. unsweetened chocolate, melted
2/3 c. milk
Oil for frying

Chocolate Donuts
Sift the flour, cocoa, baking powder, salt and cinnamon together and set aside. In a large bowl combine eggs, sugar and vanilla, beat until thicken. Add melted butter and chocolate. Add the flour mixture and milk alternately, beating until blended after each addition. Cover dough and chill for 2 hours.

In deep fryer or deep pot/kettle, pour enough oil about 3 to 4 inches deep. Heat oil to 375° F, if using pot or kettle you can use thermometer to be accurate.

On lightly floured surface, roll dough to about 1/2-inch thick and cut shapes with donuts cutter, circle cookie cutter will do, too. Fry 2 to 3 minutes, turning once. Drain on paper towel and cool. Make sure the oil temperature is back at 375° F before cooking the next batch.

1 1/2 oz. unsweetened chocolate
2 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 c. sifted powder sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
boiling water

Melt chocolate with butter and cool. Stir in powder sugar, vanilla and enough boiling water. The consistency should be good enough to drizzle on top of cooled donuts.

Recipe source:

I did not used the chocolate icing on mine because after all the cooking I was so tired and I just drizzle them with powder sugar instead.

Save Money on Lunch and Win Prizes

During my working days I always packed lunch for myself. There were times when I don’t pack anything but it was very seldom. I love these pre-pack foods that are ready in 3 minutes. I don’t need to drive somewhere to buy lunch and wait in line. Most of the time when I don’t pack lunch my whole lunch was only spent driving, buying food and looking for parking spot. Sometimes I can get away when people I knew was outside talking or what not and they watch my car for me while I’m inside a restaurant. However, they don’t happen often enough plus I was not getting paid enough to buy lunch every day. Packing lunch and buying it in bulk or in grocery store instead of restaurant was way cheaper. Furthermore, having variety of food for lunch is always good and it saves me cash.

The flavors I like the most are the Stouffers-panini and seafood Lean Cuisine. Any type of seafood will do it for me however, if one office mate does not like seafood I don’t cook it for lunch because she can’t stand the smell. I guess people who are not brought up with seafood will always refuse to eat or even smell them, but when I wanted to eat it especially when I was pregnant I can care less what other thinks. The devil in me comes out when I am hungry and pregnant.

Anyway, I am talking about these frozen lunch because they are having a contest. The contest is for a promotion of the launch of 4 varieties: Bistro Meatballs & Pepper, Bistro Chicken Souvlaki, Lean Cuisine Grilled Vegetables & Goat Cheese and Lean Cuisine Mango Tikka. Stouffer’s Panini is running a contest that allows you to win one of three grand prize (Choice of India, Greece, Italy and France) $10,000 cash prizes, (1 of 12) Sony Digital Camcorders (value of 500) and instant product prizes (Free Stouffer’s Product coupons) to be won.

When you register here for the first time the process allows you one entry and if you want more entry you will need one UPC code per day and sorry my fellow Americans this contest is only available to Canadian residents. Why not try accessing the US site, maybe you will find something there. I wish I live in Canada right now however, I got plenty of visitors from there and hopefully they see this and enter. Good luck to you guys. I am willing to accompany the winners of grand prize if they are willing to take me…any takers?

Chicken Wrap "In My Kitchen" Style

I did not feel like eating salad one day and this is what I made. Romaine lettuce, shredded cheese, chop tomatoes, slices of grilled chicken and burrito wrappers. You can basically make this the way you want or what ever fillings and dressings you like. Maybe one of the Nakano seasoning below.

Nakano Rice Vinegar

You probably heard that eating raw food is better than cooking them. Most importantly if the food is organic or grows in your own backyard. You know what it contains and what feed they have eaten. I do miss fresh raw fish with rice vinegar. My father used to make it when we were little. He can’t do it anymore because he is not that young anymore to catch his own fish. However, if ever I move close to the ocean, I can make it myself and I can get my Splash Tips (just like the image below) from and join their recipe club.

For those of you who love and enjoy their products, you can Save $1 on Nakano Rice Vinegar by following the link I provided. For those who have not signed up yet, this is your chance. Sign up and download your $1 coupon to try one of their products. Nakano Rice Vinegar is all natural, no sodium, no sugar, zero calories, no fat and gluten free for those who have allergies. I still remember when my parents made their own version of these vinegars. They add everything they like with the vinegar like; garlic, hot peppers, herbs and more. I can’t remember all of them anymore. They were very tasty as I remember it. Oh my, just thinking about it making my mouth water.

Have you ever tried dipping boiled crab meat in rice vinegar and fish sauce (patis)? It is very yummy in my opinion!
