Ginataang Gulay

Okra and asparagus/yard/long beans (sitaw) in Coconut milk with tomatoes, onions, garlic, and salt. I put everything in a small saucepan and let it cook until I got the right consistency for the vegetables. I like it when there is still some crunch on them. Plus my pots and pans can retain heat. After letting it heat up I turn the burner off and still cooked the vegetables the way I want them.

What is the origin of this dish? Don't know if this is somewhat similar to something we have here called 'gulai'...mild curry with coconut milk
