Homemade Doughnuts

2 tbsp vinegar
7-1/8 tbsp (a little less than a cup) milk (you can also used butter milk instead of milk and vinegar)
2 tbsp butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 cups sifted flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt.

Turn on deep fryer and set temperature to 375 degree F. Mix milk and vinegar, set aside. Cream butter and sugar, add egg and vanilla. Sift flour, salt, and baking soda. Add by alternating flour and milk mixture. mix until combined. Let it stand for 10 minutes.

Drop a spoonful of dough into hot oil. You can roll it out and use a circle cookie cutter if you want. I don't like a lot of mess so I stick to dropping them with spoon. Turn them when they turn golden brown. Add powder sugar on top before serving.

These look so delicious and seem easy enough to make. I might have to try them one day :) What other desserts do you make?
